How Digital Breathalysers Work
Digital breathalysers are designed to detect alcohol vapour in the breath using an internal sensor. When alcohol is present, the device converts this into a digital reading that is displayed on screen within seconds.
Breathalyser results reflect alcohol levels at the time of testing and may vary depending on recent drinking, food intake, or other factors.
How to Use a Digital Breathalyser
-
Press and hold the power button to turn on the device
-
Allow the breathalyser to complete its automatic warm-up
-
Blow steadily into the air intake for approximately 3 seconds
-
Read the result displayed on the screen
The test process is quick and easy, taking only a few seconds.
Understanding Breathalyser Results

Amber – Caution advised
-
Red – Over the limit
These indicators are intended to support personal screening only.
Tips for Accurate Results
-
Wait at least 15–20 minutes after drinking alcohol before testing
-
Avoid testing immediately after eating, smoking, or using mouthwash
-
